The Hum Drum of Winter, and No TV!

I am so ready for spring to come. I was a little disappointed when the ground hog saw his shadow the other day :( 6 more weeks of winter. The only thing that I am excited about is within the next few weeks my Tulips and Daffodils will start coming up!

Where has this week gone? I cannot believe it is Friday already. Nothing (knock on Wood) really exciting or new happened this week, We are all the same, as we were last week. Oh I guess something did happen this week, Michaels starter went out on his van, so Tim and him have a Saturday project waiting for them tomorrow. It is amazing how much we rely on our cars to get us where we need to go. Michael has a birthday coming up at the end of this month. He will be 17. Boy where have the years gone? Here is something that happened this week , I guess you might find this story interesting (or not) Here in our little rural town, we do not get TV reception. If you want to pay for dish network, or cable you can, but it is an added monthly expense of $30 or more. the kids have asked why we don't have TV, and Tim and I have told them it is because we don't want to spend our money on that, or that we don't have enough money for that. (depends on the month.) Besides, there are so many not so good programs on, you really need to be selective of what you watch. Just flipping channels can be risky.
Yesterday when Aubrie was at school, her little friends got talking about TV shows. Aubrie in not familiar with any of them, and she got made fun of. One little girl asked why don't you have TV (now let me add, we do have TV, we have 4 of them! it's just we do not have reception) Anyway the little girl asked why we don't have TV? and Aubrie told her we don't have enough money for it. The little girl replied " I cannot believe I am friends with a "Poor" girl, and she walked away. Poor Aubries heart just melted! she was crushed. She was so hurt that this little girl didn't want to be her friend anymore because she didn't have alot of money. I explained to her that if you have family, food to eat, clothes to wear, clean body, house to live in, and the gospel of Jesus Christ you were not really poor. It is the people who don't have a family to love that are the poor ones. So when Tim and I got home from work, she had made a scavenger hunt. We went from room to room finding clues, at the end it spelled I am not poor, cause I have a family who loves me, and she gave(or tried to) us her $2 of birthday money. I gave it back to her and told her to take it to school and show the little girl that she had money, so she isn't really poor. Anyway it reminded me of a show called the Bridge to Tarabithia, it was really good, put out a few years ago by Disney. You do not have to have the things of the world to be happy. It is your imagination, family and the reward of a job well done that brings satisfaction to you at the end of the night. It is not how many cartoons you watched after school!
