Feast on the Word of Christ

I think sometimes we feel like we don't want to go to all of our  church meetings, or we get slothful in our duties and/or our scripture study, We forget to make time for Christ and forget to "Feast on his words" (the scriptures) and so we do not get to enjoy the blessings of what we could have had. it is like a story I think I heard this story at a weight watcher meeting.  I googled it and found it.  The only thing I can give credit to is: 'Stories for Sharing'  I don't know if this is a book or just what.

There once was a lady who scrimped and saved for years in order to take an ocean cruise. At long last, she had saved enough money to pay for her ticket. However, there was not much money left for luxuries. She nevertheless decided to go. "I'll take along a large supply of cheese and cracker biscuits," she thought, "and eat them in my cabin. That way it won't cost me as much."

This is just what she did. She went on the cruise and had a great time. At mealtimes when the other passengers went to the dining room, she went to her cabin and ate cheese and crackers. She consoled herself with the knowledge that she had saved enough money for one fine dinner.
On her last night aboard she was going to splurge and have a gourmet meal!

The last night finally arrived and she dressed in her best clothes. Finally she was to eat with the other passengers in the dining room. With great anticipation she ordered the most delicious meal.
"Oh," she said, "the sacrifice was worthwhile." At the end of the meal, she called the waiter and asked for her bill. The waiter looked down at her in great surprise. "Madam," he said, "didn't you know that all of your meals were included in the price of your ticket?" (Stories for Sharing p. 3)

Have you noticed how we human beings have a tendency to settle for second best. To miss the point of living. You've just heard a story of opportunity missed. Of assuming that we know all there is to know. A story of wanting to go it alone. A parable of the human condition. Many of us are content to live our lives on cheese and crackers, when with God the full fare has been paid for in Jesus Christ.  How many feasts are we missing?  How many times do we chose something that really isn't bad, but takes our time away from things that could be used "feasting on the word of Christ."  I think that it is very easy like I said before to become slothful, complacent in our everyday life.

John 6: 35
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
